Saying ‘la’ like an American

Ok, so like, I’ve begun speaking like an American? And most people say my accent is really good? Hahaha.

Move in day was yesterday! It was quite chaotic seeing everyone with their families bringing loads of stuff onto campus. Alan pointed out an Asian family and commented, ‘see the asians bring the whole family all the aunties and uncles’ LOL anyway I finally met my roommate! And after all the unpacking and disinfecting wipes, this is my side of the dorm:

Desk.

Bed!

Closet!

We were pretty lucky to get the big room. Apparently it’s actually meant for 3 people so woots!

I actually woke up today feeling pretty homesick. Not sure why. And I think I had the scary teeth-moving-back-to-45-degree-angle dream again. But anyway the day didn’t start off too well. We had to sit under scorching sunlight for about an hour during the new student convocation. We had to wear black robes too, which would have been pretty cool if the sun was more merciful. After that, I went for the College of Arts and Science luncheon which wasn’t very fruitful because I don’t think I’ll be taking many classes related to it. But since I’m Undecided/Undeclared I’m automatically put in this school. And then afterwards I realised I locked myself out and had to text Blake (my roommate) to let me know when he would be coming back so I can go into the room! Dayum. But the day picked up when I went for the micro seminar and the Visions and Voices event.

The micro seminar was entitled ‘The Virgin Mary Goes To The Movies: The Multimedia Mother of Jesus’. It sounded really interesting and hilarious so I signed up for it lol (also it was one of the few seminars left). Basically it was by a quirky and funny teacher who talked about the different depictions of The Virgin Mary. I actually found it really interesting and fun! Part 1 was today and Part 2 is tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it.

Oh and then I stood in line for about 1 and a half hours to go for the Visions and Voices concert and it was aweeesome! I have never been to a poetry performance before and this one made me want to go for more. The highlight of the show was definitely the dance performance by We Are Heroes (the winners of America’s Best Dance Crew Season 4). They were incredible!

After that there was a reception and a live performance by this incredible singer who sounds like Jennifer Hudson. I don’t know her name but apparently she’s a student at USC as well!

Yeah and I realised that it’s gonna take me some time to stop saying ‘la’. Haha i actually managed to add ‘la’ to the end of my sentence while speaking with the American accent. I just assumed that because I had an American accent that the las and lors would automatically not appear but I was wrong! Ah well I guess it’ll take some time LA.

Same DNA, but born this way..
